It is an allegory for the son of Hector Astyanax who is about to be killed when Troy is conqured by the achaeans. The golden thread on his head is a sign of his imperial heritage and the texture of the sculpture transmits the tragic fate of the child.
The sculpture belongs to an installation with a title “the farewell” with two more figures. Hector and Andromachi which compose a theatrical synthesis representing the farewell of a woman and a child to the warrior before the final fight. On the side of the sculpture the observer may see a wooden structure symbolizing the archetype of an “oikos”(house). The sculpture is made of plaster and burlab on a metal armature..
